Why the weird name Lemonade braids?

Often people confuse the name lemonade with something refreshing lemony etc. No, they are side braids, especially cornrow braids and they have nothing to do with lemons. 

It was previously only associated with the African American hairstyle and people used to signify black women and this hairstyle. Then black women started to feel bad about the fact that the hairstyle became their identity. Then there was a great wave of women experimenting with their hair, making them straight, coloured etc because in this phase these women were trying to break the social stigma. 

But Beyonce came forward with a different angle to it. She promoted it as a fashion statement. In her album “Lemonade” black feminism was a concept though the concept of fidelity appeared stronger. The “lemonade” was popular and it was nominated for Grammy nine times and thus its style and music both became widely accepted. Beyonce’s side braids were named as lemonade braids and positively popular among women of all ages. Beyonce’s braids were golden along its length and also they had sprinkles of gold colour here and there on  near the head. These were golden lemonade braids of Beyonce that had fans all over the country.
